Privacy policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Jar & Kettle is published by Crater Ink Studios LLC, Pennsylvania, USA ("we"). This policy explains what the Jar & Kettle app and this website (craterinkstudios.com) collect and why. Questions: hello@craterinkstudios.com.

What we collect

Nothing. The Jar & Kettle app does not collect any information about you, and it does not send any information to us or to anyone else.

• No account: there is no sign-in and nothing to register.
• No analytics: the app does not track how you use it.
• No ads: the app shows no ads and contains no advertising or tracking tools.
• No server of ours: the recipes are inside the app, and the app does not connect to any server of ours. The only connection it makes is to Apple's App Store, for the purchase described below.

The purchase

Seven recipes are free. The rest of the app is unlocked by a one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy, and Apple's records of your purchase are what let you restore it on another iPhone. We do not receive your name, payment details or Apple Account, and we cannot see who bought the app.

Links to other websites

The Safety tab lists outside websites as sources. If you tap one of those links, it opens in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and what they collect is up to them. We do not learn that you tapped a link.

What the app keeps on your phone

The app saves four things so they are still there the next time you open it:

• Your Pantry: the things you say you made or bought, with their dates and amounts, and any place or note you type in. Ticking an item on a shopping list adds it here.
• Your favorites: the recipes you have marked with a heart.
• The Terms of Use: which version you agreed to, and the day you agreed.
• Whether the app is unlocked: so it opens unlocked without a connection. The App Store is asked again each time.

The app stores all of this only on your iPhone. We never receive it and cannot see it.

If you back up your iPhone (for example through Apple's backup services, if you use them), the backup may include what the app has saved. We never receive it.

Your choices

You can remove an entry from the Pantry or untick an item at any time. Deleting the app from your iPhone deletes everything it saved. Because we never receive your information, there is nothing for us to delete, and we cannot restore it for you.

Children

The app collects no information from anyone, so it collects none from children.

This website

craterinkstudios.com, where these pages live, is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for a short time to run the service. The Jar & Kettle pages load their fonts and pictures from this site. Other pages on craterinkstudios.com load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the request for the font files.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
