Official league rules

No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Buying anything does not improve your chance of winning. Snugtrail leagues are a free, skill-based weekly competition run by Crater Ink Studios LLC, Pennsylvania, USA.

Who can enter

• Anyone with a Snugtrail account on a grown-up profile. Entry is free and automatic: finish a puzzle during the week and you are placed in that week's league.
• You must be 13 or older. Kids profiles never take part in leagues and are never shown league screens.
• Employees of Crater Ink Studios LLC and their immediate families may play but cannot claim prizes.
• Void where prohibited.

How a week works

• A league week runs Monday to Sunday and closes Sunday at 23:59 US Eastern time.
• For now, leagues are practice leagues: the other names on your league table are characters, not real players, and the league screen is labelled “Practice league”. A practice week does not change your tier or pay prizes.
• Phone and tablet players have separate leagues, because a bigger screen makes a large puzzle easier.
• There are four tiers. Finish in the top 5 and you move up a tier next week; finish in the bottom 5 of a league with more than ten players and you move down. You cannot be promoted above the top tier, demoted below the first, or promoted on zero points.

How placement is decided

Placement is decided by skill, not by chance. Your league score is the total of the points you earn from puzzles you finish that week. Each finished puzzle scores:

• a base of 10 points for every piece in the puzzle;
• multiplied by speed against a par time of 6 seconds a piece — faster than par scores more, slower scores less, capped between half and double;
• reduced if you used help: 10% less for each peek at the picture, and 15% less if you used the ghost image.

Points are calculated on our servers from the moves you actually made, not on your device. Seasonal boosts and scratch-card multipliers can raise a puzzle's points, and they are available to every player. Highest total wins; if two players tie, the one who joined that league first places higher. We may remove scores or suspend accounts for cheating or tampering.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded automatically after the week closes. They are in-app items only and have no cash value, cannot be sold, traded or transferred, and are not redeemable for money.

• 1st place: 7 days of Snugtrail Plus and a Legendary prize picture.
• 2nd and 3rd: 3 days of Snugtrail Plus and an Epic prize picture.
• 4th to 10th: a Rare prize picture.
• Played 5 or more of the 7 days: a scratch card. Being promoted adds another.

If you already pay for Snugtrail Plus, days of Plus are swapped for a prize picture instead, so the reward is never something you are already paying for: 1–2 days becomes Rare, 3–6 Epic, 7 or more Legendary. If you already own every picture of the rarity you won, it becomes coins instead, so a win is never empty.

Approximate retail value of the largest prize: 7 days of Snugtrail Plus, about $1.15 at the $4.99 monthly price. Prize pictures are earned in play, are not sold, and have no retail value.

Apple is not involved

Apple Inc. is not a sponsor of, and is in no way involved with, Snugtrail leagues. This competition is run solely by Crater Ink Studios LLC. Any questions, comments or complaints about it go to us, not to Apple.

Changes and contact

We may change league tiers, schedules or prizes to keep the competition fair and fun. Changes apply from the next league week. These rules sit alongside our terms of use and privacy policy.
